Three out of four parents (75%) wish their children would read more books for fun, and more than seven out of ten wish their children would do more things that did not involve screen time.
— Scholastic’s Kids & Family Reading Report (7th edition)

“The book Fenway and Hattie is appealing to all elementary grade levels.” - Pamela Lansberry, School Librarian

“When an entire school reads the same book, the buzz and excitement around the book is palpable. Reading a book together brings the added joy of building and expanding a sense of community among students, parents, teachers, and staff – and beyond. In some schools, bus drivers and custodial and cafeteria staff clamor to be included. And when a library or church or community group or commercial donor becomes involved, that sense of fostered community is exponential.” - Read to Them

Read to Them is proud to recommend Fenway and Hattie, a tale that depicts loyalty, perseverance, and friendship, a tale that charms and delights. Who knows? More than one family may find themselves yearning for a canine companion so they, too, can perceive the world through a dog’s eyes.

“I was shocked because I never met an author in real life.” — Long Island 2nd grader Ally Wong

I’m so thrilled that Fenway and Hattie has become a “One School, One Book Favorite!” Now with Fenway’s new chapter books added to the mix, I hope that even more K-5 schools and families will be able to enjoy this community-building experience.

If your district or school is planning to read Fenway and Hattie or Fenway and the Bone Thieves for OSOB (sometimes referred to as One Book, One School), please let me know. I’d love to talk about visiting your school(s) either in person or virtually as part of your program. Pls email Lindsey at LitKeyEvents@gmail.com for more information.
